Los dinosaurios se extinguieron por un cataclismo provocado por un meteorito, según los científicos.
EUROPA PRESS, Madrid. Una extraña nueva especie de dinosaurio con pico de pato ha sido identificada a partir del cráneo más completo de este animal extinto excavado hace décadas en el Parque Nacional Big Bend, en Texas.
Estos dinosaurios se llaman así por su nariz aquilina y su mandíbula ancha, con forma de dos paletas colocadas una junto a la otra.
La investigación realizada en la década de 1990 reveló una cresta nasal arqueada que se cree que es distintiva del hadipáurido Gryposaurus.
Al mismo tiempo, se reconoció la peculiar mandíbula inferior.
Sin embargo, el espécimen pasó años esperando una descripción completa y no fue hasta un análisis reciente que los investigadores se dieron cuenta de que el espécimen era más primitivo que Gryposaurus y los dos grupos principales de dinosaurios con pico de pato.
