La consultaría fue ejecutada como parte del proyecto Mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida de los Pequeños Productores de la Región Suroeste de la República Dominicana implementado por Fundación CODESPA y Fundación REDDOM, con fondos de la Agencia de Cooperación Española.
Una finca en el suroeste de República Dominicana -propiedad un mediano productor- tiene plantaciones con racimos de más de 10 "manos" de banano o guineo, lo que muestra la alta productividad de las mismas.
Veinte y cuatro pequeños productores de Estero en Neyba visitaron la finca -de 200 tareas- en Neyba donde recibieron explicaciones sobre el manejo del cultivo incluyendo, manejo del racimo, control de población, y otras prácticas desconocidas por los bananeros de la zona.
