El periodista y experto en temas fronterizos, Vargavila Riverón, dictó una conferencia sobre el impacto de la inmigración haitiana y los aportes que realizan los dominicanos residentes en el exterior al desarrollo de su nación.
Durante el conversatorio realizado en el Restaurante Castillo, Riverón presentó datos estadísticos sobre la realidad de la frontera Dominico-Haitiana, la crisis en Haití y el impacto de la inmigración del vecino territorio en áreas como la salud, agricultura, construcción, educación, turismo y resaltó el intercambio comercial binacional entre las dos naciones.
“Me siento muy honrado de compartir con ustedes mis hermanos dominicanos que residen en España, principalmente aquí en Alcalá de Henares, una ciudad que tiene una amplia comunidad de quisqueyanos que sobrepasa los dos mil 800 conciudadanos, gracias por el respaldo a nuestra conferencia, que hemos traído con el fin de orientarlos en torno a el impacto de la Inmigración Haitiana y los aportes que como diáspora realizan a nuestra nación”, expresó el comunicador.
Dijo que los dominicanos en el exterior son más que remesas, porque se han destacado en áreas como el arte, la cultura, la ciencia,salud,el emprendimiento, la política y otros renglones. “Ustedes son dominicanos que inspiran, porque además de poner en alto nuestro orgullo patrio aquí en tierras extranjeras, no se olvidan del país y de su gente, siempre están presentes colaborando y aportando al desarrollo, por consiguiente reconozco sus valiosos aportes en diversos ámbitos”, manifestó.
Así mismo, Vargavila Riverón consideró que el Estado Dominicano debe proporcionar mayor apoyo e integración de la diáspora y planteó que sus representantes en el Gobierno sean escogidos de los dominicanos que residen aquí, “porque entendemos tienen la capacidad, las condiciones y la conexión entre paisanos”.
De su lado, Frank Reyes, presidente de la Asociación de Dominicanos de Alcalá de Henares (ASODAH), al dar las palabras de bienvenida al conversatorio expresó que este tipo de encuentros son de suma importancia para la diáspora dominicana, porque les permite conocer informaciones relevantes.
